Charlie bit me…

In order to understand this post you have to watch this 56-second video:
Did you watch it? Good… now I have a couple of questions:
How many times did you watch it?
Did you rewind it and watch it bunch of times? Or Just once? Do you want to watch it again right now instead of reading my (titillating!) blog-ness? Go on, you’re only young once
How hard did you laugh?
Chuckle? Chortle? Laugh? Guffaw? Rolling around on the floor? Choked on your own saliva? Sorry… I took that too far…
The reason I ask is that my brother first sent me this link (he lives State-side). I watched it the first time and chuckled (especially at :23 and :38). Then I watched about 5 more times and I was laughing out loud by the end.
Brother-o-mine asked what I thought we he called me yesterday. I said ,”yeah, it was funny” in a chilled-out observational kind of way.
“What??”, he said…
He was STYMIED that I didn’t think it was the single funniest thing I’d ever seen. He said that Mom and his fiance both almost died the first time they watched it – they were crying with laughter.
I do think it’s funny… really funny. I’ve watched it a lot more and it gets better and better – but I think one of the things that makes the video really funny is that fact that the kids have English accents. I realised when I was talking to Bro that I hardly hear the accent anymore, it’s just a regular thing. I could see my two rambunctious nephews do something just like Charlie and Henry up there. In fact, I probably have…
I told him that and he grinned down the phone, “I think it’s funny because it’s one of the funniest things I’ve EVER SEEN!” Then he quoted (in an English accent) “That really hurt and it’s still… hurting”.
The penny dropped… I think it proved my point.
So I end this blog with a hypothesis:
Kids with accents are cute and funny
(but check out the remix – AWESOME!)

That is cute!
Yeah, its like all the Hollywood villains have English accents as well!
Love the remix!!
Sorry, my last post makes it sound like I think the villains are funny because of the accents. I was trying to say that the accent makes us think differently about the scene/character. In other words, I agree with you! Got there in the end…
Maybe its because of my nanny days where I was watching kids like Henry. Maybe its because its been a long day teaching music. I might be losing the plot! Maybe I can understand why Americans would think its cute with the accents, but when you live here and hear them all the times I guess the novelty wears off a bit!!?
I must admit though, the remix was creative!
It was cute, but I think I felt the same way — that the accents made it more fun for others in my office who don’t hear them all the time. I think the novel accent definitely adds to the cuteness. To test out this theory, check out this little French 3 year old tell a fairytale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miv-ZEmwtVg
Hi Rachel
I had a listen and my GOLLEEE that was adorable. So that means Yankeebean’s hypothesis was correct… kids ARE cuter when you hear their accents. Its just what you are used to.
The way that little gal said “Crocodile” in French!! ahh!
Ahhhhhhh!!! She’s the cutest ever!! Yep, it confirms the accent theory… I have to watch it again immediately!
Right, my sister and her friend are visiting me this week in Yorkshire and I felt the need to re-comment on this post. Every time we are out and they see a little British kid doing anything that kids generally do they think its the cutest thing EVER! SO , Yankeebean I am starting to understand why your brother finds this so funny, because its happening right now with my sister too…
I get far more posts about the brotherly love, calmness of Harry and Charlies laugh than I do about the accents, but I can understand that is how it first became popular.
HarryandCharlie – it’s so cool to have you here on our blog!! The more time that passes, the more I realise that your two little dude’s and their comedy moment will probably stand the test of time. It’s happened several times now that I’ve seen two siblings talking/fighting/crying/laughing and it reminds me of H and C in all their adorable glory.
Way to make some cool kids, nice one!
HarryandCharlie, Great that you finally made it to our blog!
Would love to know what made you to decide to post your children biting each other on Youtube? Seems to be making the rounds online!
Just curious!
